I have a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Tampa College and a Master of Social Work from Alabama A&M University. I am certified as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with my Private Independent Practice Certification in Social Case Work and Clinical Practice. The first 17 years of my social work career was spent working in the child welfare system. Much of my work centered around working with youth in the Independent Living Program (ILP). Working with this population was challenging but rewarding. The next 5 years have been spent working with the Behavioral Health patients in a hospital setting. Here, my focus has been the geriatric population suffering from major neurocognitive disorder. In this position, I have also been afforded the opportunity to advise social work students and provide clinical supervision to Master level social workers. It is my sincere hope that my years of experience will allow me the chance to provide sound, competent and genuine counseling services to the community in need.

Carol Channell has been an educator for over 35 years. She began her career as a
Special Education Resource teacher at a local elementary school. Her next placement
was also an elementary school. She became an Early Childhood Special Education
teacher after receiving her Master’s degree from University of Alabama Birmingham.
Her students ranged in age from five to eight. The small classroom setting was
instrumental to provide students with individual instruction that allowed some students
to transition into the regular classroom setting. Her next placement was a local middle
school. There she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade academic Special Education classes
for students that had learning and behavior disabilities. After 10 years, she took an
internal transfer to a self-contained class for children with intellectual disabilities. This
setting allowed for awesome Special Olympics field trips and Community Based
Instruction outings. These opportunities allowed for her to provide life skills training and
lessons. The students received direct individualized instruction based on the Alabama
Alternate Achievement Standards in the areas of Mathematics, General Science,
General Social Studies, and Language Arts. Her classroom also had a small craft
business, making and selling gift bags and other craft items.
Mrs.Channell is a Master’s level teacher. She carries 4 Alabama Professional
Education Certificates in Elementary Education (K-6), Specific Learning Disabilities,
Mild Learning Disabilities, and Early Childhood Special Education (P-12). She is
excited to have this opportunity to use her years of classroom experience to ensure
Academic Success for all students.
In her spare time she enjoys cooking, crafting, and traveling.
